Proudly serving the elkhorn suburban district!

We are ESFD#2

The Elkhorn Suburban Fire District #2 Board and it's Fire Chief have the highest level of safety available to the  community and the taxpayers in mind.  We are committed to maintaining the historically excellent Elkhorn fire and rescue department.

Station 77 is staffed by career firefighters contracted from Omaha Fire and Rescue. ESFD#2 is in negotiations to secure land for a second station to accommodate the growing part of the Fire District's housing expansion in the western portion of the district.

We are beyond proud to announce that we are able to provide the same incredible level of service to the community while lowering the mill levy at the same time.

The Board and the staff of the district will continually work toward keeping the highest level of pertection to the district.

Public safety and Fire Prevention will continue to expand over the coming years!

WE ARE ESFD#2 AND WE ARE COMMITTED TO YOU!

History

Elkhorn Suburban fire districts 1st fire truck was a 1926 Chevrolet, the Elkhorn suburban fire district started out as an all-Volunteer fire department. With the increasing call responses the suburban district and Elkhorn proper hired full-time career firefighters. With the career/volunteer department an average of 1300 to 1400 calls were made per year. The Career/volunteer Elkhorn fire department was lead by the leadership of Chief Steve Morrissey and Assistant chief Dan Mallory. In 2007 the city of Elkhorn was annexed by the city of Omaha and at that time the Elkhorn suburban fire district signed a 10-year contract with the Omaha fire department to provide fire and EMS responses to the taxpayers of the ESFD. In 2017 coming to the end of the first 10 year contract the Suburban fire district contracted and hired Fire Chief Travis Harlow to administrate the contract and provide the leadership to the Elkhorn suburban fire districts tax taxpayers. The current contract goes threw 2018-2028. The New contract had significant financial savings to the taxpayers. Currently Omaha fire responds to approximately 1190 calls per year within the Elkhorn suburban fire district.
